Day one - Sept 14

We tried to get away early but the rental car company didn't cooperate. We didn't leave Athens until noon - Oh well, I'm sure that won't be the last time that things don't go as planned. Our plan today was to get to St. Louis and go to a baseball game - that didn't happen either. But we found the neatest thing that we didn't plan - Metropolis - home of SUPERMAN. You will have to see the pictures! We also found a reconstructed revolutionary war fort which you know we loved! It is on the banks of the Ohio river and was really interesting. We stopped for the night at Marion, Illinois (didn't make it to St. Louis - but tomorrow is another day.)
