September 30 – Friday
Today is our last day in Honolulu. Carolyn and I spent the morning ironing and packing for tomorrow. We had thought we would go on the glass bottom boats today but the waves are really strong and the water is cloudy. We would not be able to see very much so we decided to use the day “touring” the hotel and doing a little shopping. The first pictures are in the hotel. It is beautiful with numerous waterfalls, ponds, and sculptures. The flowers are wonderful and the animals are very unusual (for Hawaii.) Yes, the penguins and flamingos are just a few of the animals and birds that are here. We also went for a walk on the beach and saw several people surfing. That is where the saw the guy standing on a surf board and paddling out to the waves. We walked to the end of a jetty (out in the ocean) and saw numerous crabs on the rocks beside the jetty. We also watched a man and his dog playing and swimming in the ocean. At dusk we decided to go eat (you can tell the guys really like the hot wings at Hooters! After we got back we spent a few minutes on the balcony looking at the view from our room. The wet streets make everything glisten. I am trying to get to bed a little earlier because we have an early flight tomorrow to Maui to START the rest of our visit. I doubt I will update the blog since we are in a Bed and Breakfast and there is no indication of internet service. If internet is not available, I’ll send a summary when we get home.
