This was to be a “rest day.” We slept a little later and then decided to ride to the Teton welcome station. When we went through there yesterday, it was so early they were not open and then, due to road closings, we did not come back this way. James has a “National Park Service Passport” where you get stickers from each park you visit and an official stamp of the park with the date. That was what we intended to do. On the way, we saw the sculpture of the elk that is in front of the National Museum of Wildlife Art. It is a beautiful sculpture so, of course, we had to stop and get a picture. While we were at the Teton welcome station we asked about road conditions and were told they were fine until you got close to Yellowstone entrance. At that point the roads were really bad and some were still closed. Since we didn’t get to really see the Tetons yesterday due to the snow storm and the early morning fog, we decided to go into the park for a few pictures. We did get a few really good pictures which I hope everybody else enjoys. We also saw a moose in the distance but he was too far away for a good picture. After we left the park, we went back to Jackson Hole to see some of the shops. Most are high end art shops with beautiful depictions of wildlife and the mountains. We did find the Jackson Hole Stage shop. We also found a great sculpture of a horseman with his child. I cannot over-emphasize the amount of wonderful art in this town. James didn’t find a new friend today but he made my picture with a huge bison (the official name of buffalos.) Then we went back to the hotel and RESTED by doing laundry!! Seriously, we are substantially rested after three nights here. We will “hit the road” again tomorrow. We hate to leave this beautiful country side but there is so much yet to see and everywhere we look, God has made a wonderful country for us to enjoy.
