This day was a “driving day.” We had made reservations at North Platte, Nebraska, which would put us stopping at about 5 p.m. There were no stops planned and we took a two lane state road for the first 100+ miles. We spotted a small country church and we drove down an unpaved road to get a picture. I was surprised to see it was a Catholic church. I reminded me of the country churches in Alabama. Then, in that same area, James spotted this building with a Studebaker sign. Some of you younger ones won’t even know what a Studebaker WAS! As we drove, we approached a sign designating the area as “National Grassland.” We didn’t know there was such a thing but, looking at the landscape, we agree it is certainly GRASSland. I made a picture of the road just to show what it is like during rush hour – HA. Then we came upon that deserted home – makes you wonder about the stories behind that house that was once a home. James wanted a picture of the windmills that we had been seeing – different from the new, energy producing windmills we have seen. These windmills drew water for livestock. Talking about live stock, we passed the largest sheep farm we have ever seen (I wish we had not rolled the window down to make a picture – WHEEE!) As we entered Nebraska, we saw a rainbow. We wished we had a wide angle lens because the rainbow went all the way around. We checked into the hotel for the night and got beautiful shots of the sunset. These two shots look totally different and were taken about 20 minutes apart. A great day to be just a “driving day.”
