As we left the hotel James saw a sign by the handicap
parking spot warning of “falling ice.” I
guess they have problems that we don’t have to worry about on a regular
basis.
Also, he made a photo of the
flowers in the middle of the street. We
had learned that several years ago a science teacher started a project with her
students where they planted seeds of marigolds and in the spring they transplanted
the seeds to areas downtown. This has
grown to cover all the schools in the city and they plant the marigolds
throughout the city. Absolutely
beautiful.
We decided to drive through the
upper part of Fundy National Park to see Hopewell Rock. This is the area of the highest tide in the
world (43 feet.) It was at high tide
when we were there. When this area is at
low tide, you can walk on the ocean floor but when the tide begins to come in,
there is a siren that sounds because the tide comes in so fast it can be very
dangerous.
We also found that the nearby
river is named Chocolate River because the tide keeps the silt churned up to
the point that the river has a chocolate brown color. ECH!
Further
on the road we stopped at Starbucks located in a mall. That is where we saw a complete carnival
INSIDE the mall. We were sorry that we
didn’t have a camera with us. We also
saw a Sheltie that looked just like Chip.
I miss the family – including our dogs!
Arriving in Nova Scotia we stopped at the welcome center which was open
until 8 p.m. That was very helpful and
is something that doesn’t happen at home.
Boy there is a lot to see and do here – there is no way we will get it
all done. Already had hotel reservations and the hotel appears to be well located.
